What I help with

What people most often bring to me.

If what’s bothering you isn’t listed here, please still get in touch. This is a description of common ground, not a set of rules.

Marital and relationship difficulty

Repeated arguments, distance that has crept in, difficulty after a big change, or the sense that you are no longer talking to each other properly. I see couples together and individuals on their own — you do not need your partner’s agreement to come and think about your own part in it.

Adolescent counselling

Withdrawal, anger, school refusal, friendship trouble, exam pressure, or a change in a young person that parents can see but cannot name. I work with the young person, and separately with parents where that would help. Adolescents are often reluctant at first; that is normal and I don’t rush it.

Depression and anxiety

Persistent low mood, loss of interest, worry that won’t switch off, sleeplessness, or a constant sense of being on edge. We look at what keeps the pattern going and what could interrupt it. Where medical assessment or medication may be appropriate, I will say so and suggest you see a psychiatrist or doctor — counselling can continue alongside that.

Anger and stress management

Losing your temper with the people closest to you, pressure at work that has stopped being manageable, or physical stress you can feel in your body. Practical work on triggers, early warning signs and what to do differently in the moment.

Career counselling

For students choosing a direction, and for adults reconsidering one. We work through what you actually want, what is realistic, and how to talk to the people whose opinions are making the decision harder.

Self-esteem and confidence

Persistent self-criticism, difficulty accepting praise, holding back from things you want because you expect to fail, or a sense of not being good enough that has been there a long time. We look at where the belief came from and what keeps it in place.

Emotional and personal concerns

Difficulty that does not fit a neat label — loneliness, a loss, a decision you cannot make, or simply feeling stuck. You do not need a diagnosis or a clear explanation to come and talk.

How I work

My practice draws on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and person-centred counselling. In practice that means we look at the link between what you think, feel and do, at a pace you set, without being told what your experience means.

Sessions are available in Hindi, English or Punjabi.

What I do not do

I am a counsellor, not a medical doctor. I do not diagnose medical conditions and I do not prescribe medication. If what you describe needs medical attention, I will tell you plainly and help you work out who to see.

If you need urgent help Counselling is not an emergency service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, please contact your local emergency services, or call Tele-MANAS, the Government of India mental health helpline, on 14416 (available 24 hours).
