Online counselling · a global practice
It helps to talk to someone who isn’t in the middle of it.
I’m Poonam Bhardwaj, a psychological counsellor. I work with individuals, couples and families who are dealing with something difficult and would like a private, unhurried space to think it through.

What I help with
What people most often bring to me.
Marital & relationship difficulty
Repeated arguments, distance that has crept in, or the sense you’ve stopped talking properly. Couples or individuals.
Adolescent counselling
Withdrawal, anger, school refusal, exam pressure, or a change in a young person that parents can see but can’t name.
Depression & anxiety
Persistent low mood, loss of interest, worry that won’t switch off, sleeplessness, being constantly on edge.
Anger & stress
Losing your temper with the people closest to you, or pressure that has stopped being manageable.
Career counselling
For students choosing a direction and adults reconsidering one, including how to handle everyone else’s opinions.
Something else
You don’t need a diagnosis or a referral. “Something has been off for a while” is reason enough to book.
People usually arrive saying something like this
“We keep having the same argument, and neither of us knows how to stop.”
Relationship difficulty
“My child has changed and won’t tell me what’s wrong.”
Adolescent counselling
“I feel low most days and I can’t explain why.”
Low mood & anxiety
“I snap at people I love, and then I feel terrible.”
Anger & stress
About
A counsellor, not a clinic.
I hold a Master of Arts in Psychology from IGNOU, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from GNDU Amritsar, and a Diploma and Certification in Adolescent Health and Counselling from IGNOU, New Delhi.
Before counselling I taught young children for several years, and later worked with schools and families around the needs of children with disability — including as Chairperson of the Committee of Asha School in Jodhpur. That background shapes how I work now: patiently, and with the people around a person as well as the person themselves.
My approach draws on cognitive behavioural and person-centred methods. In practice: we look at what you are thinking and doing when things get hard, at your pace, and I don’t decide for you what the problem is.

Your own time zone
The calendar converts times automatically, so you book a slot in your local time.
Do I need a reason to book?
No. You don’t need a diagnosis, a referral or a crisis. Something being off for a while is reason enough.
Is what I say confidential?
Yes, with the standard exceptions: a serious risk to your life or someone else’s, or where the law requires disclosure. If that arises I’ll tell you before doing anything.
Are you a psychiatrist? Can you prescribe?
No. I’m a psychological counsellor, not a medical doctor. I don’t diagnose medical conditions or prescribe medication. If medical assessment would help, I’ll say so and help you work out who to see.
My teenager doesn’t want to come.
Very common, and not a problem. Reluctance is normal and I don’t push. It often helps for parents to have a session first, on their own.
